How to make a challenging plant roots geotropism?

Hi all I wondered how a plant roots can defy gravity, ie geotropism refute. Yes, I know that gravity will pull down the roots, but I must find a way to make the roots of defy gravity. My ideas for projects using a set of hydroponics. First I would like to put a seed in a clear plastic container filled with water. In the center of the container would mesh to prevent the seed falls to the bottom and letting the roots grow through the mesh. As the roots have grown a bit, I plan to take the seeds and roots, and suspension of his roots with a bit of rope and a trellis. The seed faces the bottom of the container.
