This disease is sometimes their tomatoes, and is very disappointing, especially when haveput months of work and love in your plants only to see these ugly black spots are exposed right under their tomatoes.
It is called rot blossom end, or blossom plight. Not to be confused with "rot end of year / harvest rot. "ISA different matter all together.
What begins as a harmless few dark spots in search of the right under the tomatoes, the night can become a huge rot fungus tomatoes chewing from the inside. And it will devour the whole tomatoes are not taken away. Cut the tomatoes immediately affected are signs of this disease.
Sometimes this will not happen with only 1 of a tomato plant, but many of them, sometimes even the whole the plant, and can happen very quickly. If you have ever had this happen to you, then you will know how frustrating this is going to be!
Here is why it happens:
Experts say it is for the poor / abnormal soil moisture. And I must say, I've done my own analysis, proves to be correct.
What does it mean?
When the plant is fully becoming a fruit, is at a critical moment, when suddenly the roots of a hit, unexpected things start to happen to the fruit:
1. If you water your tomatoes too little, or at a time when a lot of water has gone, it is likely the results could blossom end rot.
I believe that plants are like babies love routine, so keep watering routine, so every morning is usually the first thing I do, lots of water. I do not think there is no such thing as "over watering", a tomato plant that LOVE water.
2. If the growth of plants in pots, you know, this is critical ...
Get big pots. The biggest problem I see with people seen growing tomato plants in pots the pot is too little.
A small pot leads to soil water drain faster, as it warms during the day, leading to moisture abnormal soil. It is possible that the water plant in the morning when the sun hits the pot at noon, most of the water evaporates and the plant will become dehydrated during the rest of the day. Dry soil is a no-no!
How big should the pots? A good rule of thumb is large enough to accommodate a basketball in. At least 10 gallons. And fill with soil all the way to the top.
Too often gardeners put tomatoes in pots that you put orchids in flower pots or other size, or put them in containers, but only fill up half the road (which defeats the purpose of the enormous pot!) Plants grow short and gradually this way. Note, tomatoes are giant plants, and need a lot of soil to grow well.
A final thing about the pots ...
For the same reason, do not use pots for tomatoes BLACK!, The color black attracts the sun and heats up like crazy, the water in the soil, evaporate in the hot ... results to problems like these.
Recommended are clay pots, but not cheap. The next best choice is white or any color of plastic. The pots are a great topic which I will discuss later.
Above all, the best way to prevent blossom end rot is the irrigation system and continuous, and be aware of soil moisture ... When summer comes, the water 2 or 3 times during the day, especially in dry and hot.
