How To Build A Hydroponic System

Why do I keep getting root rot my deep water culture hydroponics setup?

I have a home made setup basic hydroponics, where roots grow through a basket and eventually grow to sit in a bucket of water that bubbles of air through. temperature water is fine, no light is reaching the roots, is about 300 ppm with plant nutrients, pH is usually anywhere 5,8-6,1 all I can think is maybe my nutrients have gone wrong, but I'm trying to eliminate all other possibilities before spending money on more nutrients.

Maybe try of the sterilization room (especially the ceiling) all you need is a little fungus / mold spores to fall into the bucket without light .....
